My Bid Day Story
It started with phone calls. Friends at other schools were going through recruitment, and during their prep they came to me, looking for someone their own age who would actually think it through with them. We talked through the conversations, the nerves, and the parts nobody had warned them about. After each call I would bring what I had learned to my mom, and together we would work through it until I had something that genuinely helped. School after school, formal and informal rounds, the same pattern kept repeating, and we realized we were quietly building something worth sharing.

"She lived it.
My friends leaned on me through it.
Together, we turn nerves into ready."
-Maya
When Maya called, I recognized the problem immediately, because I had spent my whole career on it. As a performance psychologist I help athletes, executives, and performers get ready for the moments that count, and I wrote the book Moment Ready on exactly that. Recruitment is a performance environment by every definition I know: high stakes, time-compressed, judged, and physically demanding. That lens is what neither the expensive consultants nor the cheap online courses bring to it. So we built the thing we had been doing for free, and we built it well, so any young woman can walk in ready for the bid day she deserves.
About Maya
Maya is a Business Administration student at Loyola University Maryland, where her focus sits at the intersection of fashion, marketing, and modern brand strategy. This summer she's a marketing intern at 2 Market Media, building on a foundation in business strategy and communication that she's eager to carry into a career where analytical thinking meets creativity. She's also a runway model who has walked for emerging and international couture designers at DC Fashion Week, an experience that sharpened her eye for brand storytelling, visual communication, and the art of presenting yourself with confidence when it counts. On campus she stays active in Loyola's Fashion Club and Pre-Law Society, rounding out a business education with hands-on legal exposure, and a service-learning trip to Costa Rica deepened her adaptability and purpose-driven mindset.
Maya brings that same range to My Bid Day, blending strategic instinct with a creative, modern sensibility. She's a lifelong competitor, too: a member of her high school dance team, a varsity lacrosse player named First Team VHSL All-Region and team MVP her senior year, and a DECA competitor who earned a spot at the Virginia state competition. That mix of discipline, presence, and strategy is exactly what she brings to shaping the modern voice and brand of My Bid Day.

Meet Maya and Dr. Amy

Dr. Amy Athey is a performance psychologist and executive coach who has spent more than two decades helping elite performers excel when the stakes are highest. With a PsyD in Clinical Psychology and certification as a Mental Performance Consultant, she has worked with Olympic champions, NCAA championship programs, U.S. Special Forces, and corporate leaders, including roles on the Human Performance Team for Naval Special Warfare and as a Senior Advisor at McChrystal Group. As the founder of Athey Performance and host of the Still Evolving podcast, she built her career on a single conviction: you don't rise to the moment, you fall to the level of your preparation. She calls this being Moment Ready, which is also the title of her book.
Rush is exactly the kind of moment Dr. Amy has spent her life preparing people for, a high-pressure, high-stakes experience where composure, clarity, connection and courageous action decide the outcome. As a Chi Omega alumna, she understands the system from the inside, and as a mother, she understands what families are really navigating. At My Bid Day, Dr. Amy brings that same preparation to the pressure of recruitment, helping young women walk in steady, clear, and ready for the moment that matters.
